Dr Carole MacDiarmid, Convenor 

I have been involved in English as a Foreign Language and EAP teaching and teacher education, including as a CELTA and DELTA trainer for over 30 years, in Istanbul, Turkey, the UK and with the DELTA Online. I started teaching in language schools and then Istanbul University, and worked as a teacher trainer for International Training Institute and the British Council. 

I’ve worked at the University of Glasgow since 2003 and am English for Academic Purposes Manager in English for Academic Study, where I’m responsible for Teacher Development. I am co-Programme Leader and lecturer on the MEd and MSc TESOL programmes, and convene the Teaching English for Academic Purposes (TEAP) Online postgraduate course. 

I have been an assessor for the BALEAP Accreditation Scheme (BAS) since 2009, was a Member of BALEAP Teaching English for Academic Purposes working party which developed the TEAP Fellowship (Individual) Accreditation Scheme and am a BALEAP Senior Fellow, mentor and assessor. 

My research and scholarship interests include pedagogies in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), Teacher Development & EAP Teacher Competencies, Spoken Academic Discourse and TESOL Methodology.
